A Ramayan-inspired jewel that is popular even today!

Ramayan has mention of many jewels. For instance, Mudrika (ring) and Chudamani (hair jewellery) that were worn by Mata Sita. Even the toe ring that she threw to indicate Lord Ram about the direction in which Ravan has abducted and taken her along. Still it was her bridal jewellery - Chandrahaar that captured the imagination of not just her devotees but also the poets across ages.

You can also spot more elaborate versions of this jewel on the figures sculpted on the wall of the temples of Odisha. However, in the modern day India, Chandrahaar (a garland of moons) is popularly believed to hail from Bengal.

Worn as a hip ornament, Chandrahaar adds grace to the wearer. It essentially comprises of a series of chains made of tiny gold beads that are held together in a criss-cross gold wire, leading down to an elaborate filigree pendant with a floral motif. The clasps on either side are also tiny filigreed flowers.

How can you give a miss to a jewel this elaborate, especially when you wish to look your best - your wedding day!
