Nose ring: now a unisex jewel!


Love School's fresh season hit the tube recently. Nothing new about the show. Same talks about love, lust and looks. Yet one thing that caught my eyes was one of the male contestant's nose ring. This dappered looking stud, actually showed up all decked up with that edgy jewel on. Although it is bold even for the sensibilities of today's generation, he pulled it off with elan. 


These days, even Vicky Donor-famed Ayushman Khurrana is seen sporting one. Aamir Khan's pictures from Thugs Of Hindostan, wearing traditional nose pins, is also viral on the internet. But when Ranveer Singh's photoshoot pictures surfaced here, it triggered a gush-feast of sort. While girls were drooling over his looks, boys got a new fashion goal for themselves. 


However, on digging deeper about men's fetish for this girly trinket, I realised Aamir Khan, Ranveer Singh and Ayushman Khurran have recently joined the gang just. Not to mention, following the footsteps of their Hollywood counterparts. Way back in 90s, Akshay Kumar had attempted it for a photoshoot. At that time, he may have been mocked at by many but today, it's just the opposite. These men are heaped with praises for this bold move. Fans not only have good things to say but also follow suit and Love School contestant is a shining example of that.


Men's jewellery has definitely come a long way!

Kudi earrings: then and now!

Kudi earrings is one of the most popular traditional Maharashtrian jewellery. Essentially, it is designed by stringing pearls together into a floral pattern. The string used to hold the pearls together may be made of gold or a nylon thread. While it is an out and out handmade jewel, it amps up the wearer's festive look.  But with time, this traditional jewel underwent a major makeover. Instead of pearls, now it is also designed into gold. The look and feel of the beads are achieved by carving it in gold. In some cases, the pearls are used, just that they are embedded in the gold frame and not typically strung together. Even in this form, Kudi earrings continue to rule the roost.  That's not all. Ever since gemstones have developed a fan-base in India, ruby and emerald-studded designs too have been gracing this segment of jewellery .
