Innovations: Dancing Stones

The gems and jewellery industry thrives on innovation. Even though it is an age-old art, innovation in terms of technology, technique and style has been constant. Whether it is borrowed or indigenous, every jewellery making craft has been revived time and again. From one era to another, from one culture to another and from one craft man to another, it has evolved and will continue to do so and jewellery enthusiasts like me, will never get enough of it. On the look-out for an innovative jewellery design, I stumbled upon one of the latest techniques called Dancing Stones and could not help sharing about it with you.

To understand what are dancing stones, let us first delved into what you love about diamonds. Certainly, the way it sparkles every time the wearer moves. Encapsulating this very aspect of diamonds, a Japanese company called Crossfor, headed by Hidetaka Dobashi, designed a mechanism wherein the diamond held in the centre of the pendant is constantly moving and yes, sparkling too. FYI, this diamond actually flickers along with the wearer's heartbeat and breath.

Isn't it one-of-a-kind?

Where is it available? Sorry to disappoint you, the technology involved in designing Dancing Stones is patented by Crossfor. Hopefully some Indian jeweller someday acquires its copyright and makes it available in India too. Till then, let your desire to wear it grow stronger.
