Born in october? Here are your birthstones

October born babies are quite lucky! They have two birthstones and both of them are multi-coloured. While Tourmaline is available in a spectrum of colours and colour-combinations, Opal too is rich with shades of rainbow including red.

Let us learn about both. First let's take up Tourmaline.

Tourmaline means mixed stone and with its rainbow of colours, it easily enhances any jewellery collection. Cranberry red, hot magenta, bubblegum pink, peach, orange, canary yellow, mint, grass, forest green, ocean blue and violet, are some of the colours Tourmaline adds to your jewellery. Note that, Tourmaline comes in a variety of combinations and amongst them, bi-coloured and tri-coloured ones are highly priced. For your information, one of the multi-coloured varieties of Tourmaline is known as Watermelon Tourmaline and features green, pink and white colour bands. When this gemstone is cut into slices, it resembles its namesake with a pink centre, white ring and green edge.

Opal is another hot favourite gemstone that October-borns can happily wear for luck. In early times, Opal was regarded as the Queen of Gems because it encompassed the colours of all the other gems. Just so you know, each Opal is as unique as our fingerprints. Some prefer the calming flashes of blues and greens, while others love the bright reds and yellows. With its spectrum of colours, as you turn and move the Opal, the colour plays and shifts, giving you a gem that can be worn with a number of ensembles. However, the ideal Opal is one that displays broad patterns covering the surface with all the seven colours of the rainbow. Here's an important trivia on Opal: Australia’s Lightning Ridge is famously known for its rare and stunning black Opals.

Now that you known your birthstone, wear a ring, a pendant or a bracelet encrusted with it and usher in good luck in your life.
