Love Maharashtrian jewellery? Then I am sure you are also a fan of Putli Haar. A lot of you must have already bought one. But wait a minute. Are you sure, you own an authentic Putli Haar? In Marathi, Pulti mean coin and Haar means neckwear. With that, it is essentially a coin necklace. Legends has it, these coin necklaces were made by stringing Roman coins together. Those coins had Greek gods who more or less looked like Hindu deities were engraved on them. Therefore, when this style of neckwear came to India, the local jewellers here interpreted as Hindu deities and that is how, Laxmi, Ganesh... coins came to be used in Putli Haar.
