Designs that are so you!
Not everyone wears
jewellery for style. For some it is a way of expression, while others look at
it as a reflection of their inner-self. In fact, in some of the tribes in
India, it is a mark of their identity. Also, since time unknown, by means of Mangalsutra
in India and wedding rings in the west, women make known about their marital status. Even through the
history of India, the jewels of various eras reflect the time in which they originated. The Rajputs, the Mughals, the Marathas, the Mauryas…you can tell
from the designs which jewel belongs to which dynasty.
Although since then
we have come a long way in terms of design themes and technology and a lot of
western influence is seen in our creations, the yearn to personalise our jewellery still persists. Sometime the desire is so strong that we go in for
customisation. It may be a design that we have either seen somewhere or created on our own but all that matters is that we identify with it. For many years, our idea of personalising jewellery remained crafting the initial alphabet of our name
into a jewel and it continues to rule the roost. Especially when there are
design options that amp
up your style quotient, besides adding a personal touch to it, you are bound to get stuck. With settings of diamonds and coloured stones in gold and various other alloys, this
category of jewels are a big hit even today.
But have you ever wondered
that there’s more to your personality than just your name, something that is as unique as your name to you? May be your religious faith or zodiac sign. Even by using these aspects of your personality, you can go in for
a design that is so you. That says so much about yourself. To begin with, zodiac signs. It is the best way to let the world know about your personality
traits. Say for example, if you are a Scorpion and wear your sign, even a stranger would know that you are a secretive person and would refrain from snooping into your life.
As you flaunt a Gemini sign, a Libran would know that you are the one for him.
Compatibility chart, you see! Doesn’t it make your social life easy!
Other than your
zodiac sign, your faith defines you well. Besides, whether you are a god-loving
person or an atheist, a religious symbol will only do you good. While they
will amp up your style quotient, ushering in the divine influence is a given.
Although it is a matter of faith, you always feel protected wearing them. From
Hindu symbols such as Om, Trishool, Shivalingam, Surya, Kalash and Swastika to
deities’ engravings like Ganesha, Laxmi, Hanuman, Balaji, Krishna and Saibaba,
there is wide-ranging options. You also have a variety in Islamic, Zoroastrian and Christian emblems.
Certainly, whoever
said that jewellery is a form expression, may have been hinting at these!
