Fashion is an amusing give and take. You may inspire some while you get enthused by others. With that, there is always some kind of exchange happening between like-minded fashion forward people. One has tried on something, the other one has to give it a shot and it does not stop there. Next you see the same style get revived as something even more exciting. All in all, fashion is a virus that spreads like nobody’s business and with time, it only gets edgier and edgier. But one thing is for sure, it never ceases to excite you and body piercing is one of them.

Agreed it is not a new phenomenon in India. Many tribes and communities have been practising it since time immemorial. But in those days, it was religious reasons why people opted for it, unlike today when youngsters give in to peer pressure. Nevertheless, whatever the reason be, if you have made up your mind, be in the know of what you are getting into and how will it impact your overall look.

To begin with, ear cartilage piercing. First thing first, what kind of piercing do you exactly wish to sport. Refer the below diagram to understand your options.

Imagine yourself in each one and picture how will it look on you. For your general understanding, an industrial piercing will give you a punky look, while orbital/ helix, daith, rook and auricle rings will add a bit of grunge to your everyday look. Targus, anti-targus, forward helix, outer and inner conch, snug, upper and traverse lobe, when adorned with studs, will also give you an edgy look. Only when you are sure of what kind of look you wish to achieve, accompany your earrings at the standard lobe with an additional one or more piercings.

 septum piercing

Nose piercing too has come a long way. From septum piercing, women today have moved on to piercing nasallang which involves three piercings - both the nostrils and the septum. Belly, lips, cheeks, tongue and eyebrows are other body parts that are populalry pierced.
